The demand for documented environmentally correct textiles is growing rapidly. Gabriel has therefore decided to offer Gaja, Europe’s most popular contract textile, in a C2C-certified version. Gaja C2C will thus supplement our textile portfolio with yet another pioneering environmental certification.

The vision of eliminating waste from the productions of the future is thriving to the highest degree. This is clearly seen in the increasing demand for Cradle-to-Cradle and similar products throughout the world. Gabriel is one of the first textile manufacturers in the world to gain C2C certification on the basis of the new textile Gaja C2C.

"We want to send the signal to our customers and the sector in general that Gabriel takes sustainability seriously. This is why we decided that one of our most popular products, Gaja, would be our first C2C-certified textile," says Gabriel’s Business Manager for QEP (Quality, Environment and Production), Kurt Nedergaard.

Gaja C2C enters into a biological cycle, where the fabric is compostable and recyclable in new productions. The potential for additional C2C variants in Gabriel’s product portfolio is considerable.

The development of C2C technologies is a complicated process, but the results are worth the trouble. We would like to be able to satisfy the customer’s wishes, but also to help ensure that productions are beneficial instead of burdening the environment.

A lot of Gabriel’s development generally takes place in partnership with the customers, and Kurt Nedergaard also hopes that the continuing development of Gabriel’s C2C products will take place on the basis of partnerships with customers on their wishes and needs.

We believe that lack of access to resources will be the next big global challenge. We will see many goods in the future where production based on new materials will not be worth it, and perhaps not even possible. We must therefore lose no time in investigating the possibilities for C2C resources and maintain the close dialogue with our partners on how we will meet the challenges of the future – today.
